Introducing Our Team. . .

Hi I am Darlene

I have been working in Early Childhood for 40 years and am a Certificated Early Childhood Teacher. I have 4 children, 7 grand-children and 3 great-grandchildren.

My interests include reading, walking and family time.

It is important to me that our Centre reflects the relaxed atmosphere that a child’s home provides and that they view the Centre as an extension of their home.

In my experience, learning in all areas occurs best when children are encouraged in a relaxed environment.

Kia ora, I am Ena

I have worked in early childhood for many many years.  My current role is Lead Teacher.

I believe that education is so important for all.  It is great that the early childhood is accessible to all and that everyone can enjoy our Centre.  I love that my role brings education to life and that the children learn, explore and learn to socialise in a warm caring environment.

Kia ora, I am Carmel

I have been working in early childhood for 30 years. My current role is lead Teacher and I am a Certificated Early Childhood Teacher. I have 4 grown children and almost 8 grandchildren.

My interests include going to the beach, playing pool, entertaining and socialising.

Early childhood education provides the best possible start in life to our children and I love being part of the children’s learning and development at this stage. Working with the children is rewarding and lots of fun.

Hi I am Karen

I have working in early childhood education for 23 years. My current role is Lead Teacher and I am a Certificated Early Childhood Teacher. My interests include badminton, spending time with my family and working on my home on my lifestyle block.

I love sharing my knowledge with the children and taking them on journeys that include new learning and new experiences. The children’s joy at being able to see and touch new and exciting things makes every day of teaching worthwhile.

 Kia Ora I am Leonie

I have worked in early childhood for more than 10 years and I am a Certificated Early Childhood Teacher. I am a mother to 2 and grand-mother to 4.

My interests include everything equestrian, camping, spending time with my family and kayaking.

It is awesome to see the development of children not only in their learning, but in their ability to communicate, socialise and care for each other. Each day is a special day in their lives and I feel privileged to be part of their life journey.

 Hi I am Sue

I have worked as the Centre’s cook for many years. I have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. My interests include socialising, travelling, and spending time with my family. My role provides me the opportunity to educate and cook healthy, nutritious meals for the children. There is nothing more satisfying than preparing a nutritious meal that the children love. It is exciting to introduce new foods and watch them experience and learn about the new food and food groups that keep them healthy.

Hi I am Dianne

I graduated from Auckland College of Education in 1996 and have lived and worked in Whangarei as a qualified, Certificated Early Childhood Teacher ever since.

I am a mum to a 9 year old boy. We love life in Whangarei, enjoying the nearby beaches and walks.

My passions are the performing arts. I enjoy dance, drama, music, yoga, health and wellbeing. I also love travel, camping and growing fresh organic food.

I have been involved in the Whangarei Arts scene since I was a child, performing and teaching.

To me a good start to the early years is extremely important, as it sets the path for a child’s future development. Each child is unique, with much to offer.

I hope I can inspire, educate, guide and share my knowledge and skills with the children, allowing them to learn in a fun, happy and challenging way and bring out their strengths and qualities so they can shine.

Hi, I am Heidi

I have worked in early childhood education for 7 years and am qualified. I am the mother of 2 children. My interests include social sports, fishing and family time.

I believe that early childhood education is a fundamental part of children’s growth and development as they actively explore the world they are in. I think it important to provide a warm and safe environment for children to develop, whilst feeling safe and secure within that environment.

Hi, I am Sharon

I am Sharon and I have been working in the early childhood education field for the last 25 years, in Sidney and New Zealand. I have obtained a Bachelor of Education, Associate Diploma in ECE and Home Based Care qualifications. I moved to Whangarei, my husband’s home town, in 2007 and have 4 children.

Working with children is my passion and I love being able to assist them in their learning journey with experiences, exploration, repetition of activities and adventures within our Centre.

Kia Ora I’m Elliott

My position here is Office Manager and I am part of the Management Team, together with the Lead Teachers.

This Centre is awesome and the outside space is the best. We’re perfectly located in the middle of town, have great staff, happy children and lovely freshly prepared food.

Being a not for profit Centre, our profits go straight back into making the Centre even better for the children.

I have 3 boys and live in Onerahi.
